Rm 17s Magic Boxes

In Room 17 we have been imagining what it would be like to have a magic box all to ourselves. Honestly, it would be paradise having your very own world to yourself!

Tiny Book Necklaces for Book Week!

Thank you so much to Quincy's mum Brigitte who spent time in our classroom today telling the story of the Swiss Legend 'The Devil's Bridge' - the children were on the edge of their seats in suspense!

She also took time to show us the world's smallest book as well as explained how we could make them ourselves.

We used the afternoon to make our own tiny books and turned them into necklaces.  Fantastic for fine motor skills as well as a lot of fun! A great Book Week activity.

Collecting Bacteria!

Today we collected bacteria from all around the classroom using swabs.  We will watch this bacteria grow over the next week.  We even took it from all of our own hands... I wonder who is carrying the most bacteria!  (We will find out!)

Over the next week, we are going to research bacteria, understand how it grows, how can be good for us and then write an informative report about bacteria.  If there is time we might even make bacteria inspired art!

Olivia taking a swab of a table
Charlotte taking a swab of under her shoe (yuck!)
Joey, Shiori and Lily's thumb prints as well as the bottom of their shoe!
We're ready to watch it grow!

Clark's Paralysing Skydive

Clark was working on describing what it would feel like to skydive out a plane. How would you react to going skydiving? Would you dare to jump out of a plane?
